Tianjin's traffic transportation network plan

According to Tianjin's transportation network plan (2012-2020), Tianjin's rail transit network will be extended to 686 kilometers in 2020, and will account for 40 percent of the city's traffic transportation network.

Two horizontal and two vertical traffic lines

The network will has two horizontal and two vertical traffic lines.

The two horizontal lines are the Z1 and Z2 Lines, located on the sides of the Haihe River.

The two vertical ones are the Z3 and Z4 Lines. The Z3 Line will follow a central north-south axis to explore spaces for Tianjin’s future development, while the Z4 Line will promote the development of the city’s coastal zone.

Transportation network in central area

The planning transportation network in the central area will has three urban lines and 13 district lines, presenting a radial-hoop structure. The M5 and M6 lines will be loop lines.

The transportation network will stress the radial function and satisfy transit demands.

Planning transportation network in Tianjin

The length of Tianjin's municipal transportation network is 1,380 kilometers; it has 28 lines.

It covers 424 kilometers with a rail density of 0.97 km/k㎡.

Planning transportation network in Binhai New Area

There will be three municipal lines and eight other lines including Tianjin-Binhai light rail to shape a radial network centered on Yujiapu.

The M1, M2, M3, M9, M6 lines will put into use at a total length of 168 kilometers. They will have 112 stations, seven of them transfer stations, and will provide 100 million trips per day.

The east extension line of M1, the first phase of the M4 line, the M5 line, the second phase of the M6 line, the first phase of the M7 line, the first phase of the M10 line, the first phase of the M11 line, the B1 line, and the first phase of the Z4 line are all under construction.

The second phase of the M4 line, the first phase of the M8 line and the Z2 line are in a construction planning stage.
