Ordos root carving sets world record

A root carving exhibited by an Ordos museum set a world record on Jan 8, for being the longest root carving made from camphorwood, according to a news release.

Starting in 2014, the artwork took 14 skilled craftsmen from Taiwan almost two years to finish. It has a total length of 32.93 meters with a height of 2.79 meters on average.

The raw materials for the artwork came from Myanmar, and the carving depicted the magnificent architecture of the Great Wall.

Zhang Jian, senior officer for authentication of the World Record Association, authenticated the record set by the artwork on site.

The piece is now being exhibited by Ordos Taifaxiang Museum.
