The Sanmenxia branch of the China Post released a new set of stamps to celebrate the upcoming Year of the Dog on Jan 5.
The stamps have two different designs, one featuring a black-and-white dog on a red background holding its head up high, the other depicting a mother dog and her cub. The Dog, one of the 12 animals of the Chinese Zodiac, represents peace and familial love.
Both designs were created by artist Zhou Lingzhao, who is also noted for his contributions to the designs of the national emblem and the second, third and fourth editions of the Renminbi note.
A group of senior stamp collectors were eager to get a hold of the new set, so we opened a purchase channel for those over 70 years old, an officer said.
