The Guiyang High-tech Industrial Development Zone (Guiyang HIDZ) was ranked 41st among the 147 State-level high-tech zones by the Torch Center, Ministry of Science and Technology, local media reported on Jan 2.
In the areas of technological innovation and industrial advancement, Guiyang HIDZ was ranked 44th and 37th on the list, respectively. The Ministry of Science and Technology commended the zone's achievements in attracting investment, cultivating low-level industry, and providing industrial services.
Approved by the State Council and established in 1992, Guiyang HIDZ consists of the Jinyang Science and Technology Industrial Park and the Xintian Science and Technology Industrial Park.
Big data is the driving force behind the zone's development, with a steady stream of new big data construction projects constantly being introduced. The zone has already seen the construction of the National Engineering Lab for Big Data Application Technology, the first national-level big data industry incubator, as well as a comprehensive big data experimental zone and an industrial ecology demonstration base.
More than 4,000 companies engaged in big data, including Huawei, Tencent, and Dell, have opened branches in the zone.
