Take a trolleybus around the ancient Guangzhou downtown

Trolleybuses were once just a memory in the minds of some older Guangzhou resident, but now they are back in the ancient southern Chinese city's Yuexiu district.

On Jan 9, a total of five trolleybuses were put on the road by the Yuexiu tourism bureau, offering three routes for both locals and inbound visitors to gain a better understanding of Guangzhou's oldest downtown area.  

The five thematic buses feature traditional hand paintings of Guangzhou's distinctive scenic spots such as the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, Zhenhai Tower and Five Ram Statue on its exterior, will travel from the Dongshan Trolleybus Central Station to cover the 102,104 and 106 bus routes.

The five themes which will be on the trolleybus interiors are Cantonese Culture, traditional Central Axis of Guangzhou, Guangzhou delicacies and Guangzhou festivals.

Self-serviced tourism guidance systems and maps are also provided within the trolleybuses and special detailed introductions for attractions and cultural relics along the bus routes can also be obtained by scanning the QR code on the buses.

The Bus Route 102 stops along numerous famous landmarks including the Guangzhou Martyr Memorial Park, Guangzhou Uprising Memorial Hall, and the Sun Yat-sen University North Campus. Meanwhile Bus Routes 104 and 106 will respectively take visitors to taste Guangzhou's famous local delicacy markets or to admire the ancient city's cultural relics and historic and cultural blocks.
