A tourist park in Baotou containing thousands of deer is set to open to the public in spring with work on the main structure recently completed, according to a Jan 10 Baotou Daily report.
The park, located in Jiuyuan district, will cover an area of 440 mu (29.3 hectares). A total of 200 million yuan ($30.66 million) will be spent on the project.
The park will have deer sheds covering an area of 30,000 square meters, plus a 150,000-square-meter sightseeing area and a museum highlighting the influence of deer on Baotou’s culture (as Baotou is also known as Lucheng, literally a place with deer).
Sika deer and New Zealand red deer will soon be introduced to the park.
