Sanmenxia has climbed to new heights with a total revenue of 14.4 billion yuan ($2.2 billion) in 2017, an 11.9 percent increase from last year, Sanmenxia Daily reported on Jan 5.
The city's general budget revenue increased by 10.7 percent to 10.8 billion yuan, 7.6 billion of which came from taxes, an increase of 15.2 percent.
Expenditures saw an increase of 13.6 percent, with total expenses ranking fifth in Henan province. The city's budget allocation has been optimized – 74.1 percent of expenditures are now going toward improving people's lives, particularly in areas such as education and healthcare.
Sanmenxia also broke new ground by establishing a fund worth one-billion yuan in order to support new ventures in the city, and inviting an investment and management company from Zhejiang province to provide assistance to small and medium-sized enterprises and help industrial parks with infrastructure construction.
