The awards ceremony for the 13th China Folk Literature and Art Mountain Flower Awards (Mountain Flower Award), the topmost prize within the Chinese folk literature and art circles, will be held in Guangzhou on Jan 13.
It is the first time that the biennial event has been held in the southern Chinese city and more than 23 awards of six categories including "Excellent Folk Art Performance Award", "Excellent Folk Arts and Crafts Award" and "Excellent Folk Literature Work Award" will be unveiled at the ceremony.
More than 500 famous literati and artists from across China including Feng Jicai, a famous Tianjin folk artist and Wu Bing'an, a famous Chinese folklorist are scheduled to attend.

The 90-minute ceremony will be themed on Chinese solar terms and will consist of five main parts, to provide the event a special cultural atmosphere with southern Chinese characteristics.
A total of 40 Mountain Flower Awards have been won by Guangdong-based literati and artists since the award's inception in 1999, according to Li Lina, vice president of the Chinese Folk Literature and Art Association.
"The biennial event to be held in Guangdong capital of Guangzhou will provide a high-level cultural feast for people in the province, said Li, adding that the event is in recognition of Guangdong's rapid development in the folk art industry from the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles and Chinese Folk Literature and Art Association.
