On Jan 7, a special jewelry and accessories exhibition that featured entries which have qualified for the next round of the 2017 China Traditional Arts Jewelry Accessories Design Contest went underway in Guangzhou.
The event was hosted by Guangdong Federation of Literary and Art Circles, Folk Artists Association of Guangdong, Copyright Protection Center of Guangzhou and Guangdong Lingnan Folk Art Institute at the Lingnan Exhibition Hall in Ersha Island. Jewelry designers and experts were invited to the exhibition to appraise and select the first, second and third prizes among the entries.

The 2017 China Traditional Arts Jewelry Accessories Design Contest which began last year in August, has featured over 600 works from 13 jewelry companies and 30 universities including the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts. A total of 18 folk art techniques including that of paper-cutting, enameling and wire inlaying were applied to the works.
According to the organizers, various folk artists and famous jewelry designers will also be invited to give lectures in universities across Guangdong province during the exhibition to provide young students a chance to understand how traditional folk arts are applied in jewelry design.
