The plaque for Sanlingshan National Forest Park as a 4A-grade tourist attraction was unveiled on Jan 1.
Located in Southwest Zhanjiang, the scenic spot covers 10,875 mu (725 hectares), of which 8,825 mu is forests. With a greenery coverage of 98 percent, it is often dubbed the "Lung of Zhanjiang".
The park set forth the goal of bolstering itself as a 4A-grade tourist attraction in 2013. Since then, it has thoroughly improved its infrastructure by building parking lots, toilets and a signage system in line with national standards.
Beyond that, requirements including preserving the environment in the process of development, having a comprehensive service system, being well connected by transport and appealing to tourists were basically met.
Last December, it was granted with 4A status after the release of a public notice by the National Tourist Attraction Quality Rating Committee.
Only one step away from China's top five-tiered tourism rating system, the park aims to further improve its high standards and become an even better example of Zhanjiang ecotourism.
