A welcome ceremony for Boston International School (BIS) was held in Wuxi New District, Wuxi, Jiangsu province on Jan 5.
Boston International School has been built to provide world-class international education for children of foreigners as well as Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan compatriots, with the support of Wuxi government and St Joseph High School of Connecticut, the United States.
Located in Wuxi New District, Boston International School covers an area of 86,218 square meters to accommodate 1,800 students. It plans to open during the 2017-2018 school year and enroll students aged between 18 months to 18 years old (pre-kindergarten to grade 12).
According to the head of Wuxi New District, Feng Xiaochun, the school marks a great step in the development of the city's international education system. " It will wipe out the concern about education of the children of returned overseas Chinese talents and foreigners who work, start up businesses, and live in Wuxi and its surrounding areas," Feng said.
He added that Wuxi New District would make efforts to support the development of Boston International School and provide children with a healthy and happy learning environment.

Featuring American education, the international school offers two international education programs to nurture and develop curiosities and talents of foreign students, the International Baccalaureate (IB) Program and Advanced Placement (AP) courses.
"At BIS, we will have a thoughtful, dynamic and professional development programs that ensure all learning is designed and delivered with the best effective researched-based pedagogical practices and cutting edge technology," said Rob Stewart, the executive principal of BIS.
As the only boarding international school in Wuxi, Boston international school also has the largest theater in Wuxi and the first smart classroom based on internet of things, a professional gymnasium, a natatorium as well as dormitories for foreign students.
"Having a good international school is very important to me because it allows me to have my family here in Wuxi. It also helps me to recruit more foreign experts who have school age children," Alberto Cruz, a parent representative in BIS, who moved his family to Wuxi due to the city's incentive policies said.
"This new state-of-the-art school with its cutting-edge technology has the promise to be a leading international school in China." Alberto Cruz said.
