308,000 DWT tankers delivered by Dalian COSCO KHI Ship Engineering

A newly-built 308,000 DWT crude oil carrier, hull no DE042, was delivered to China Merchants Energy Shipping by Dalian COSCO KHI Ship Engineering (DACKS) on Jan 4.

DE042, with a molded length as long as 333 meters, a molded depth of 30 meters, and a design speed of 15.5 knots, is one of two very large crude carriers (VLCC) ordered by China Merchants Energy Shipping.

DE042 is a new generation "economy", "energy-saving", "safe" and "environmentally friendly" vessel, which has obvious advantages compared with some types in carrying capacity, speed and fuel consumption.

As the largest crude carrier in the Strait of Malacca, her layout has been optimized to the maximum capacity, which will bring more economic benefit to its owner.       

DACKS, established on 18 July 2007, located at Dalian Lushunkou, and jointly invested by China COSCO Shipping Corporation Limited and Kawasaki Heavy Industries, is a modernized large-scale shipbuilding joint venture. It constructs large bulk carriers, VLCCs, VLOCs , large container ships with capacity over 10,000 TEU, 6,200 PCCs (Pure Car Carriers), LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) carriers and other large high-performance merchant vessels.
