FTZ to have China's only aircraft integrity test center

The Zhuhai Free Trade Zone in Wanzai will become home to China's only research institute integrating aircraft structural and field intensity tests and authentication.

AVIC Aircraft Strength Research Institute, which was established by Aviation Industry Corp of China (AVIC), entered into strategic partnerships with the zone Administrative Committee and AVIC International Holding (Zhuhai) Co Ltd on Dec 28.

Equipped with advanced laboratories, the institute's expertise in research and tests on aircraft structural strength is at the highest domestic level. It is authoritative enough to give national verification on strength specifications of newly developed aircraft.

The institute relies on an Oct 10 agreement between the FTZ and AVIC International Holding to co-build high-end aviation service platforms for Zhuhai. A leadership group and professional investment promotion team were set up to attract advanced international aviation resources and first-class domestic aviation research institutes to serve that purpose.

Zhuhai Vice Mayor Zhu Qingqiao attended the signing ceremony. Zhong Sijun, chairman of the board and general manager Cao Xiangdong of AVIC International Holding (Zhuhai), were also present, as was Wang Binwen, director of AVIC Aircraft Strength Research Institute.

All attendees pledged wider-range cooperation and concerted efforts in market development.
