The First Hohhot International Food Fair opened at Inner Mongolia International Convention and Exhibition Center on Dec 28, and will run until Jan 1, 2018, according to a news release by local media organizations.
Themed “Boost consumption, Alleviate poverty”, it aims to promote local culinary specialties among domestic and international consumers, and to highlight the high quality of local food brands.
The fair has 525 booths and has attracted more than 300 companies from across the country to display their delicacies.
It has also set up a special booth to promote featured products from Qingshuihe county, in an attempt to help the county's poverty alleviation efforts.
A cooking show by several Russian and Chinese chefs was performed on the first day, capturing the attention of many visitors.
In addition to food tasting events, the food fair will also include a promotion activity for the city's winter festival, as the organizer is expecting a large number of consumers due to the quality of the foods being offered.
