Ice and snow-themed festival to open in Yanji

To promote tourism in Yanji, Jilin province, the Fifth Yanji International Ice and Snow Tourism Festival, which integrates all kinds of ice and snow tour routes and supporting entertainment, will kick off on Dec 29.

This year's festival site is in two areas -- Yanji Park and the Mode Morl Holiday Resort. Visitors can find various ice lantern sculptures and snow mountains.

According to staff members at Mode Morl, the holiday resort contains unique scenery with traditional, regional and historical elements, informing guests about traditional lives of people in NE China.

About 20 activities such as a China-Russia New Year Carnival, a skiing tour at Mode Morl held by FIS-Ski and a snow sculpture competition are included in the festival. Participation in some of the events is open to the public.

China's first live-action ice show will also be staged. Ice acrobatics, winter sports, figure skating and magic shows are all on offer.
