Environmental protection against air pollution in Sanmenxia, Henan province is yielding positive results after the city recorded 241 days of excellent air quality ending Dec 20, Sanmenxia Daily reported.
The city began a 30-day campaign on Dec 1 to intensify its efforts in the fight against air pollution in a bid to do more before 2018.
The level of key pollutants PM2.5 and PM10 significantly slid down as citizens joined in the campaign to safeguard the blue sky.
At least 5,000 members divided into 100 groups have been tasked to carry out inspections at over 2,000 firms and construction sites ordered to phase out the use of inferior coal and reduce dust. An odd-even license plate rule was also released on Dec 12.
