Service industry takes lion's share of Xiamen's economic gains

The service industry in Xiamen, Fujian province has generated added value of more than 225 billion yuan in the first 11 months of this year, an increase of 7.8 percent year-on-year and nearly 60 percent of the city's total economic gains of this year, according to Xiamen Statistics Bureau.

The retail sales of consumer goods in Xiamen amounted to 132 billion yuan with an increase of 13.6 percent year-on-year, of which service consumption has seen a strong growth, such as a 1.5 times increase for telecoms equipment, and a 1.1 times increase for household appliances and audio and video products.

The import and export trade volume totaled 531 billion yuan, an increase of 15.3 percent year-on-year, and electromechanical and high-tech products are the main exported products.

The amount of shipped containers at Xiamen port has increased by 8.4 percent, the city's rail cargo volume has seen a more than 23 percent increase and air passenger and freight volumes have increased by 21.1 percent and 31.6 percent in the first 11 months of this year.
