Changsha, capital city of Hunan province, is recognized on the list of Top 10 Global Recreational Tourism Destinations, it was announced at the 2017 Global Tourism Destinations Summit held in Suzhou, Jiangsu province, on Dec 20.
According to the organizer -- Tongcheng Network Technology Co Ltd, a Suzhou-based online travel agency, the city’s Orange Island fireworks show, popular TV variety show programs, and restaurants and bars contribute to the city's branding as a leisure and relaxing tourism destination.

In addition, all year-round rural tourism festival and some special leisure and entertainment activities also play a big role in boosting trips touring around the city, said the assessment.
The result is based on the big data obtained from top 10 tourism companies in China and online consultation and orders from Tongcheng website.
Nowadays, previously established tourism model cannot satisfy the people's diversified tourism demands.
"With travelers' demand increasing, Changsha has been improving its structure of tourism industry," said an official at Changsha tourism bureau. The Central China city optimizes its tourism products, shifting its focus from sightseeing to leisure and relation, explores all-for-one tourism and develops tourism complex.
Changsha is increasing its efforts to develop rural tourism and recreation tourism, and building up constructions of film-themed town and international resort, showcased as a perfect destination for global travelers to seek relaxation and recreation.
