A China-ASEAN Educational and Cultural Development Research Center was launched at the Lingnan Normal University (LNU) on Dec 22 in a bid to ramp up exchange and cooperation between two sides.
The announcement was made at the first-ever China-ASEAN Educational and Cultural Development Strategic Forum & Think Tank Construction Symposium. Experts and scholars held extensive talks regarding the cultural undertaking and development among China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
Zhanjiang, listed among the pilot cities of the Belt & Road Initiative, is China's gateway to connecting with ASEAN. As LNU is the sole university in the western Guangdong specializing in education, it is expected to shoulder the responsibility of advancing researches on ASEAN's education and culture.
By taking advantage of Zhanjiang's geographical advantage and Lingnan Normal University's resources, the research center will endeavor to establish itself as a national think tank with international influence. In order to reach this goal, high-end forums will be hosted, along with the publishing of blue papers and research reports, said Huang Wei, vice president of LNU.
