Usually when cities update their streets, they modernize them with state-of-the-art renovations. On Dec 18, Yunyan district in Guiyang finished a unique approach to their renovation project on Zhonglie Street.
To pay homage to Guiyang's rich history, local authorities infused profound cultural relics into the newly-built urban community. Covering seven courtyards around the street, the renovations resurrect the histories of Liu's Ancestral Hall, the County School in Qing Dynasty (1644-1912) and other ancient sites and memorialize them on the renewed Historical and Cultural Wall.
The transformed walls and facilities not only enrich the beauty of the city but also encourage local residents to learn about the history.
