First Ningbo-made subway train departs production line

The first subway train manufactured and tested in Ningbo, Zhejiang province departed the production line of the production base of CRRC (China Railway Rolling Corporation) Ningbo branch on Dec 23.

The train, with advanced technologies and efficient operation, is the first of its kind completely developed and tested in Zhejiang. Ningbo branch of CRRC thus becomes the first company in the province that has an industrial chain for subway train production.

Many components and train parts were manufactured locally and over 80 percent of the interior products like hand rails and advertisement frames were from native companies.

Moreover, a lot of Ningbo elements were reflected in the train, including patterns of scrolls and sailboats, both of which were typical cultural factors in the coastal city.

Zhou Winghe, chairman of CRRC Zhuzhou Locomotive Co Ltd said the production base in Ningbo has made a lot of progress in research, design and manufacturing, as the city has been developing rapidly in recent years. In the future, Zhou pledged that the Ningbo branch will better serve the local economy by boosting the upgrading of high-end and advanced manufacturing.

The new train will come into service for Line 3 of Ningbo Metro and the intercity railway connecting Ningbo and Fenghua.
