Scores of foreigners were invited to Jiuchenggong resort in Ordos, Inner Mongolia autonomous region on an occasion to celebrate the traditional Chinese lunar festival — Winter Solstice on Dec 22.
The Chinese-foreign sodality has provided an opportunity for expats and overseas students to experience local ethnic customs and traditions, deepening their understanding to Ordos and Chinese culture.
Activities on-site included city promotion, tourism advertising, cultural exchange and interactive sharing. Some foreigners performed unique songs and dancing from their respective countries, and they shared experiences and feelings towards Ordos through studying, working and living in the city.
The organizers presented the English version brochures concerning Ordos to these foreigners, and gathered together to make dumplings or jiaozi to celebrate the winter solstice.
Winter resorts in Ordos have recently improved sports facilities and services to entice more tourists, and Ordos local government has organized ice and snow activities to boost winter tourism and the local economy.
