Displaying over 2700 crown cap bottle openers, Story Share Museum (Gushihui in Chinese) in Wuxi was recognized as the world's largest personal museum by the World Record Certification Agency (WRCA) early this December.
Located in Wuxi Studios, a state-of-the-art film studio, the museum hopes to introduce visitors to not just its huge collection of crown cap bottle openers, but rather an in-depth knowledge of the beer culture. With exhibits classified in different themes, visitors can learn more about bottle openers' development and the hidden culture, aesthetics, craftsmanship, and religious backgrounds in different countries from the bottle openers' materials, shapes and decorative patterns. Other beer-related products are also on display in the museum, such as over 3700 pieces of beer labels and some beer glasses.
Xu Xiaofan, the initiator of Story Share Museum and also the owner of all the exhibits, feels proud of his collections and envisages that in the future each of the bottle openers will have a QR code so that visitors can scan to get detailed information.
Cofounded by Xu Xiaofan, Wuxi Studios, and Biotechnology School of Jiangnan University, the museum is also an industrial tourism project combining beer-related collection display, brewing techniques, beer culture, and craft beer tasting.
After a tour of the crown cap bottle openers, guests are treated to craft beer tasting and beer molecular cuisine in the museum. The ingredients for the beer, the techniques for production and the formulas for all the different brews as well as the advanced beer saccharification control system in the museum are from Jiangnan University. Visitors can learn the secrets of craft beer production and have a fresh experience here.
