Cruise firms remain bullish about Xiamen market

With the hot sale of winter routes in Xiamen port, Fujian province, cruise companies and travel agencies are optimistic about the market in the coastal city, according to Xiamen International Cruise Home Port Co.

The 100,000-ton luxury cruise Costa Fortuna made by an Italian cruise manufacturer is set to sail from Xiamen port on Jan 17 and 22 of 2018, including the popular "Belt and Road" route.

Based on Xiamen port, the Costa Fortuna has run five continuous trips in 21 days from October to November of this year.

Statistics show that all five tricks were fully booked and nearly 15,000 tourists took the cruise to travel abroad.

Another luxury cruise MSC Lirica is going to run three trips sailing from Xiamen port from Dec 14 to 28 of this year, and the tickets for trips themed around Christmas to Long Beach, the United States and Manila, capital of Philippines were sold out in less than eight days.

Head of the Xiamen International Cruise Home Port Co introduced that the ports in North China are easy to be influenced by the sea wind in winter while located in South China, Xiamen port is capable of opening cruise routes to the Southeast Asia, which shows the popularity of the mentioned routes.

The cruise company is preparing for the routes sailing during the Spring Festival and winter vacation and more luxury cruises have also been introduced to satisfy the various requirements of the Chinese tourists.
