Ningxia Institute of Calligraphy and Painting held an art exhibition in Guizhou Art Museum in Guiyang on Dec 16.
More than 170 pieces of works as well as some prints of Ningxia petroglyphs were shown during the exhibition.
"Ningxia Hui autonomous region shares many similarities with Guizhou province," said Shen Hongwei, chairman of Guizhou Artists Association. "They are both major art provinces with rich art resources."
Exhibited at the third floor of the museum, the prints of Ningxia petroglyphs attracted many visitors. Petroglyphs are images created on rock surfaces by incising and carving, as a form of rock art by ancient nomadic people.
Ningxia petroglyphs were widely found in valleys and hills alongside the Yellow River in Ningxia Hui autonomous region. Those petroglyphs proved that dozens of nomads used to live there.
Among the petroglyphs, those themed around sun worship have become world-class cultural symbols, according to Zhang Chao, a worker of Research Center of Ningxia Petroglyph.
The exhibition, free of charge, is scheduled to last until Dec 22.
