The largest business district in Zhuhai's West Wing -- a 62,000-sq-m commercial center -- will be constructed at the Gaolan Port Economic Zone, local officials announced recently.
The complex on West Nangang Road in Nanshui Town will supersede an industrial park that is to be upgraded and given new functions.
The commercial center is expected to generate 180 million yuan ($27 million) in turnover annually from integrated services including shopping, entertainment, leisure, catering, and hotel. Nine industrial facilities have so far attracted capital of 80 million yuan ($12 million) via public bidding for reconstruction as the center and market-oriented operations.
The project is the result of rapid industrial development in Gaolan, and is to support the zone's prosperity in return. It will eventually improve the well-being of residents, according to a government official.
