Activities were held in Sanmenxia celebrating the National Traffic Safety Day on Dec 2.
Hosted by local authorities such as the transportation bureau, civilization office and education bureau, a campaign with the theme of "civilized traffic acts make a safety trip" was initiated by Li Jie, chief of the local public security bureau, with the participation of over 2,000 volunteers.
Traffic officers gave a performance by standing in formation and showing hand gestures, professionals demonstrated first aid skills for road accidents and an information desk was set to introduce traffic rules and regulations.
Volunteers were arranged to maintain the traffic orders in some key areas of the city, in a bid to check the uncivilized behaviors of drivers and stop people from running traffic lights.
At least 300 police officers gave out 80,000 materials, set up 30 boards and 200 banners to remind people to be careful of traffic violations.
