Located on the coast of the East China Sea in Zhejiang province, Ningbo-Zhoushan Port (宁波舟山港) is one of China's major international cargo and container shipping port. It is also the largest domestic transshipment base for iron ore and crude oil, as well as an important storage and transshipment basement for liquid chemicals, coal and crops in East China.

Container cargo transport is the main business of Ningbo Zhoushan Port. The port has strengthened its cooperation with Maersk, the Mediterranean, COSCO and other shipping giants to deal with the sluggish foreign trade environment. Meanwhile, it has expanded its domestic trade business with Zhapu Port and Fuzhou Port.

In 2016, Ningbo-Zhoushan Port became the world's first port with an annual cargo throughput exceeding 900 million tons, making it the busiest port in the world for eight consecutive years in terms of cargo tonnage.

The port opened eight new routes to Southeast Asia in 2016, and the foreign trade cargo along the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road accounts for about 60 percent of the total volume.

Faced with new challenges and opportunities, Ningbo-Zhoushan Port has taken proactive steps to build itself into a world-class, modern hub port, a world-class shipping service center, a world-class storage, trade and processing basement for bulk commodities and a world-class port administration group.
