Ereenhot Border Economic and Technological Cooperation Zone (二连浩特边境经济合作区) received State Council approval as a national economic and technological cooperation zone in 1993. With a planned area of 27 square kilometers and a 14-sq-km construction project to build import and export processing facilities, the zone cost 78 million yuan ($11.79 million).
Focusing on various aspects of the wood processing industry, the zone houses 67 enterprises, 16 of them major.
