The sea-view corridor of Zhanjiang Development Zone [Photo/zetdz.gov.cn]
With a total area of 469 square kilometers, Zhanjiang Economic and Technological Development Zone (Zhanjiang Development Zone, 湛江经济技术开发区) is one of the biggest national-level development zones in China, and is regarded as the main driver for the wheels of industry.
It was established in November 1984 with approval of the State Council. It is one of the first batch of the state-level economic and technological development zones. The development zone is characterized as one zone with multiple parks, including Guangzhou (Zhanjiang) industrial transfer park.
