Nansan Island Coastal Tourism Pilot Zone
The Nansan Island Coastal Tourism Pilot Zone (湛江南三岛滨海旅游示范区), which is only two kilometers away from Zhanjiang's downtown, consists of 10 islands which are integrated into the main island. Covering a land area of 123.4 sq kms, the islands also provide an 83-km long coastline.
In 2012, the Zhanjiang municipal Party committee and the Zhanjiang government decided to make Nansan Island the center of a coastal tourism area to include "Five Islands and One Bay". Nansan Island will thus be forged into a national-level coastal tourism demonstration zone and a winter vacation resort base in South China. It is expected to become the bellwether of the city's tourism industry and a masterpiece representing its tourism image.
The zone has attracted quality projects that will introduce Nansan Island to the world as a diversified leisure island with subtropical scenery suitable for high-end residences, commercial conferences, vacations, and a variety of health, recreation and entertainment assets. Characterized as a coastal vacation spot for winter rest and retirement, as well as a home-port, Nansan Island will be the biggest growth center for the tourist economy in Zhanjiang.
