Xiamen and Wellington celebrate 30 years as Sister Cities

Xiamen and Wellington are jointly celebrating the 30th anniversary of the foundation of their Sister City relationship. Xiamen named a street Wellington Road in Wuyuanwan and the city's Horticulture Expo Garden includes a Wellington Park.

Wellington, the capital city of New Zealand, and Xiamen have developed an extensive relationship, cooperating in areas such as education, medicine and culture.

Wellington mayor Justin Lester visited Xiamen last month, followed by a Xiamen delegation visit to the China-New Zealand Mayor Forum in Wellington. The Xiamen-Wellington relationship has won multiple awards and recognition over the years for its depth and range of activities.
