During a collective study session of the Communist Party of China Central Committee Political Bureau on Friday, General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out the country should accelerate the implementation of its big data strategy, in order to improve people's lives and promote social and economic development.
Analyzing large data sets, which are a massive and diversified information asset, can be processed to help decision-making.
A national big data strategy was first advanced in the 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-20) in 2015, when it was listed as one of the important national strategies for China's future development.
At the study session on Friday, Xi called for efforts to advance the nation's big data strategy, improve digital infrastructure, promote integration and the sharing of digital resources, and safeguard data security.
He also advocated promoting the development of internet plus education, internet plus medical treatment and internet plus culture based on the "people-oriented" development thought, in order to improve equalization, inclusiveness and convenience of public service.
Meanwhile, protection of national key data sources, as well as the pre-warning capacity should be strengthened.
