Changsha expo reveals latest in building trends

The China (Changsha) Prefabricated Building and Construction Technology Expo 2017 (PBCTE) is underway at the Changsha International Conference and Exhibition Center from Nov 28 to 30. 

The three-day event aims to showcase the latest technologies and products and promote the sustainable and healthy development of the building industry.

Sponsored by Hunan provincial department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development and the Changsha government, this year's expo is themed on green building and has attracted more than 400 exhibitors from across the world. 

The 45,000-square-meter exhibition is divided into eight areas to display products and technologies across the whole of the building industry chain, including prefabricating buildings, green buildings, urban planning and building design, products manufacturing and construction, building materials, construction machinery and building equipment. 

At the opening ceremony, Changsha-based Broad Homes Industrial International Co (Broad Homes) was awarded as one of the first batch of prefabricated building industry bases and signed three projects worth a total of more than 2 billion yuan ($303 million). 

Benefiting from the Belt and Road Initiative, Broad Homes has expanded its business to 12 countries, according to Tang Fen, president of the company.

The booth of Hunan Dongfanghong Construction Group is displaying some models of white-wall-and-green-tile villas which are prefabricated buildings and targeted for poverty relief projects.

Such kind of assembled architectures can be completed in only two weeks, according to the group General Manager Zheng Zhihong. 

Hunan Loncin Homes Industrial Co, another exhibitor committed to prefabricated buildings, even set up a 100-square-meter villa on site. 

Green and energy-saving buildings are another highlight of the expo. The Hunan subsidiary of the China Construction Science and Technology Group amazed attendees with its ultra-low energy consumption passive prefabricated house. It features an opaque building envelope and doors and windows capable of heat insulation, heat recovery systems, and a solar air conditioning system. 

"It can save more than 60 percent in energy consumption, and makes the room temperature fluctuate between 20 and 26 degree centigrade all the year around," according to Wen Lijun, technical manager of the company. 

In addition, attendees can also learn more about how construction waste can be recycled and processed as well as catch a glimpse of the future in green building trends.
