Baotou in North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region, marked new progress in its development of ecommerce with a total of 72 ecommerce platforms being established in the city during the first 11 months of 2017, which reported turnover of 40 billion yuan ($6.04 billion), according to a Dec 8 Baotou Daily report.
The 72 e-commerce platforms are located in Baotou Rare Earth High-Tech Industrial Development Zone, and 60 of them are already in service. The platforms include 23 B2B platforms, 21 O2O platforms and 16 B2C platforms.
Baotou has long been the ecommerce frontrunner in the autonomous region, with the city selected as one of 17 ecommerce demonstration cities in China during January.
It is the second city in the autonomous region to win the honor, following Hohhot, the autonomous region’s capital city.
