Curtain closes on Guangzhou Citizen Cultural Festival

The 2017 Guangzhou Citizen Cultural Festival, a great cultural event for the city's residents, came to an end on Dec 10 following a special closing ceremony held at the Guangdong Performing Arts Center Theatre.

The ceremony featured several performances winning municipal level awards and unveiled a range of prize-winning performances during the cultural festival.

Since May this year, the six-month cultural festival has provided Guangzhou citizens with more than 1,000 cultural activities such as artistic competitions, Lingnan cultural displays, and exhibitions of painting and calligraphy. Over 30,000 people took part in the competitions held during the festival with more than 2 million people attending to watch.

Highlights of the cultural festival included the Sixth China (Guangzhou) Hip Hop Cultural Week, a special concert featuring Chinese zithers and a lion dance performed by the youth from Guangzhou.
