Two Ordos villages were recognized as “beautiful leisure villages”, according to a list revealed at the conference held by the Ministry of Agriculture, on Dec 5.
The two villages are Shenshuitai village in Uxin Banner and Ulanmulun village in Ejin Horoo Banner. A total of 150 villages received the honor at the conference, according to the list.
Villages that apply for the title have to go through several procedures including getting a recommendation from the local government, examination by the panelists and having the panelists opinions published on the internet.
The environment is the primary category in terms of evaluating the villages. Industrial functions and cultural services also matter to the evaluation.
Ejin Horoo Banner was also recognized at the conference for its agricultural heritage, becoming one of the 29 places that were honored for the same reason, and also the only one of its kind in Inner Mongolia autonomous region.
The banner has long offered agricultural products such as meat, milk and alcohol during the yearly ritual honoring Genghis Khan.
