Swans inspire second intl photo festival in Sanmenxia

With cameras flashing and beautiful white swans soaring through crisp winter skies, the second China (Sanmenxia) White Swan Wildlife International Photography Festival will be underway in Sanmenxia, the "city of swans", in Henan province from Dec 12 to 18.

Out of the nearly 30,000 artworks that were collected, only 134 pieces will earn a coveted display spot at the festival in Sanmenxia.

Artists will have another opportunity to share their work at an invitation exposition that will showcase around 2,700 animal-inspired images snapped by amateur and professional photographers from over 50 countries. Photographers will also have the chance to mingle with representatives from renowned brand-name photographic equipment companies who will be in attendance.

Organized by China Photographic Publishing House, several activities will be prepared for attendees to enjoy, including a seminar on ecological photography and nature protection, an award ceremony, and an inauguration ceremony for a photographic culture communication center.

Last year's event was well-received and lauded for boosting cultural and social construction in Sanmenxia. Confident in its continued success, Sun Zhenjun, chairman of Sanmenxia Photography Association, expressed his ambitions for the festival, "We will build Sanmenxia into a capital of wildlife photography by making the White Swan Wildlife International Photography Festival a communication platform for international culture and arts."
