The 2017 Fortune Global Forum came to an end on Dec 8 in southern Chinese city of Guangzhou following three days of symposiums and meetings discussing business, innovation and development.
The global event was attended by more than 1,100 representatives from 388 companies across the world, hitting a record high both in terms of numbers of participating guests and Fortune Global 500 companies.
According to Alan Murray, ditor-in-chief of the Fortune magazine, the forum is the most successful of all the previous five Fortune forums held in China, with guests from across the world gathering and sharing their insights frankly and sincerely. He noted that the event is a great example of free and open communication.
Cai Chaolin, director of the executive committee for the 2017 Fortune Global Forum, also spoke at the closing ceremony, saying that the event is a great opportunity for the whole world to gain a better understanding of Guangzhou and will surely promote exchanges and cooperation between Guangzhou and the world.
Cai also revealed that government officials of Guangzhou had met with a total of 114 enterprise representatives during the Fortune forum, showing them Guangzhou's warm welcome to investors. A range of enterprises have signed cooperation agreements with Guangzhou during the forum including e-commerce conglomerate Alibaba Group and think tank Paulson Institute.
Guangzhou is visualizing a bigger picture and the city has set next year as a crucial year to promote its image across the world by holding many international roadshows, Cai said.
"Guangzhou will make full use of its advantage of opening-up to lure investments and gather premium resources from the world," Cai said. "At the same time we will encourage local enterprises to go global and realize mutual cooperation and communication."
