Togtoh Power Plant is the world's largest operating fossil fuel power plant, with a total capacity of 6 million kWs.
During the first ten months in 2017, the output value of the electricity industry reached 281.5 billion yuan ($42.6 billion), a year-on-year increase of 4.2 percent, according to statistics from the local government.
The city also has great advantages for developing the new energy industry, with abundant wind and land resources that are suitable for the development of wind power. According to local authorities, 30 percent of the power supply is now provided by renewable sources of energy, with wind power accounting for 25.56 million kWs installed capacity from a total output of 46.4 million kWs. This is 17 percent of the total wind power capacity of the entire country.
