Taihu Lake regions gather to develop all-for-one tourism

The "Round Taihu Lake" All-for-One Tourism Development Forum was held at Taihu National Tourist Resort Zone of Binhu district, Wuxi from Dec 4 to 5, where tourism secretaries from the Yangtze River Delta region shared their experience and discussed future goals.

With superior tourism resources, the region around Taihu Lake has a huge number of scenic spots. Officials from Shanghai, Suzhou, Nanjing, Wuxi and other cities nearby have sat down together annually since 2003, with the hope of better developing local tourism.

This year's forum focused on how to develop all-for-one tourism and build a tourism brand for Taihu Lake.

Wei Xiao'an, chief expert at the World Tourism Cities Federation, pointed out the existing problems on round Taihu Lake tourism directly. "Few people know tourism routes and products about Taihu Lake area but Three Whites within a fragmentation environment in round Taihu Lake regions," Wei said.

"Only regional cooperation can speed up the development of all-for-one tourism around Taihu Lake regions. An all-round leisure tourism area is expected to be built there," Wei added.

Many tourism specialists with experience developing road trip tours, ancient village tourism and rural homestays also expressed their thoughts on how to innovate the tourism industry, including the construction of rest stops for self-driving tourists.

More than 20 authorities unveiled the nameplate of the Round Taihu Lake Tourism Federation during the forum.

The tourism union will establish a coordination mechanism for construction and sharing of tourism traffic information, smart travel and public services, to optimize the allocation of resources and realize the integration of tourism development around Taihu Lake.
