As winter awakens more from its seasonal slumber, a strong cold front has frozen parts of the Yellow River in Inner Mongolia sector, icing nearly 139 kilometers on Dec 5, according to the Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters of Yellow River.
The Yellow River runs across Togtoh county from the west, and then turns south toward the Shanxi-Shaanxi Gorge Area. As the boundary dividing the upper and middle reaches of the Yellow River, the county and its surrounding area take on a distinct look with ridges, wetlands, streams, and desert.
During its freezing or melting period, the region’s flood control and drought relief department usually take action to monitor the state of the ice for public safety.
