Baotou marked new progress in the rare earth new material industry with output maintaining steady growth during the first 10 months of 2017, according to local media.
The output of permanent magnet material from January to October totaled 21,651 tons, year-on-year growth of 99.5 percent. The output of hydrogen storage material grew by 30 percent and stood at 2,355 tons. The output of polishing material reached 11,879 tons, year-on-year growth of 89.5 percent.
Baotou, China's leading supplier of rare earths, has long been committed to developing its rare earth industry with the Baotou Rare Earth Hi-Tech Zone serving as its base. The city has successfully hosted nine sessions of the rare earth industry forum, boosting its prestige in the industry.
