Hengqin business environment promoted in Argentina

Changes in the Chinese economy, the favorable business environment in Hengqin New Area, and how Latin America can benefit within the framework of the Belt & Road Initiative were promoted in Buenos Aires, Argentina on Dec 4.

The meeting followed up the first China-Latin America & Caribbean International Exposition that closed in Zhuhai on Nov 11. It attracted 252 enterprises and organizations from 24 Latin American countries and regions including Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil, and Chile. While deepening mutual understanding and exchanges, it offered opportunities for cooperation.

Initiated by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), the 12th China-LAC Business Summit is to be held in Zhuhai next year along with a trade fair. Hengqin welcomes Latin American entrepreneurs and people from all walks of life to take part and seek business opportunities in the area, said Li Weihui, deputy Party secretary of Hengqin New Area, during his speech.

Argentine presidential counselor Philip Marino, who attended the China-Latin America & Caribbean International Exposition, has witnessed the rapid development of China and the enthusiasm of Latin American countries toward cooperation. According to Marino, the Argentine government supports international cooperation under the Belt & Road Initiative and will encourage local governments and enterprises to consider Hengqin for investment.

A bond is expected to be built between Chinese enterprises and Argentine provinces and cities. A win-win result will be achieved to benefit the people of both nations by giving full play to the complementary advantages of each other's economies and promoting mutual investment, said an official.

Questions from Argentine entrepreneurs about the preferential tax policies, tariff reduction, and investment regulations of Hengqin New Area were answered by Zhuhai representatives at the conference.

Among the attendees were representatives from CCPIT Zhuhai Branch, China (Guangdong) Pilot Free Trade Zone (FTZ) Hengqin New Area of Zhuhai, Rafaela of Santa Fe, and dozens of Argentina entrepreneurs.
