China is ready to work with Canada to further boost bilateral trade, two-way investment and cooperation regarding innovation capability, Vice-Premier Wang Yang told visiting Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Wednesday.
They met on the sidelines of the Fortune Global Forum in southern China's Guangzhou. The Canadian leader is on a visit to China from Sunday to Thursday.
Wang, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, noted that Chinese leaders including President Xi Jinping have met with Trudeau in Beijing and reached a number of important consensus, which will inject new impetus to the development of bilateral relations.
"China is ready to work with Canada to implement the outcomes of the visit, and enrich the bilateral strategic partnership," Wang said.
Trudeau said his visit to China was fruitful and he expects both sides to strengthen cooperation on investment and innovation.
The two countries hope to jointly advance the process of bilateral free trade agreement negotiations, Trudeau said.
Also on Wednesday, Wang met Papua New Guinea Prime Minister Peter O'Neill, who attended and addressed the forum.
As the southern Pacific country will host the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Economic Leaders' Meeting next year, Wang said China supports Papua New Guinea's hosting efforts.
China endorses Papua New Guinea's lasting support for the one-China policy, and is ready for bilateral discussions on and joint efforts on the Belt and Road Initiative, Wang said.
Also China is ready to offer help within its capacity to Papua New Guinea, Wang said.
O'Neill said his country will continue to honor the one-China policy and act as a staunch partner of China.
