Raking in 88.5 billion yuan ($13.6 billion) in the past 10 months, Guiyang's e-commerce trade volume ranks first in Guizhou province, according to the statistics released at an "enterprise reform" themed conference held in Guiyang, capital city of Guizhou province, on Nov 24.

E-commerce contributed 48.1 percent to the province's total revenue, with a year-on-year growth of 30 percent – 7.9 percent higher than the country's average. It is expected to break through 100 billion yuan by the end of the year.

It’s no wonder how the capital city became a pioneer in e-commerce industry in Guizhou given its heightened focus on e-commerce trade development in recent years, with big data as the leading force.

Guiyang's efforts have proven fruitful with the completion of 13 e-commerce industrial parks with more than 400 registered enterprises. E-commerce has even crippled poverty in regions of Guiyang by transforming five villages into demonstration zones. For instance, Libei Village of Xifeng County – deemed the first "Taobao village" of Guizhou – created 10 million yuan in annual online retail sales last year.
