The Sino-Singapore Jilin Food Zone, located at Jilin city, Jilin province, is an important cooperation project in agriculture and agricultural product (food) safety between the two countries.

The zone is witnessing a new round of consumption upgrading brought about by supply-side structural reform. Local enterprises producing cheese, craft beer and other foods as well as modern health care products are embracing new opportunities.

A cheese production base, covering an area of 60,000 square meters, is under construction in the zone. Upon completion it will produce 40,000 tons of cheese every year to meet the increasing demand of Chinese consumers.

Sino-Singapore Craft Beer brings beer production technology and equipment from Germany into the zone. It not only produces high-quality craft beer, but also cultivates professional beer makers.

Li Chunyan, production manager of the company, says the high quality of the beer results in sales growth even with a high price, adding that this shows an increasing demand of Chinese consumers for products with high quality, a market with huge potential.

In the pavilion of Neptunus Group, people can learn about the human body through its state-of-the-art transparent display screen, 3D projection hall and sleeping experience zone.

A renowned bio-pharmaceutical giant in China, the Group has also built production bases in the zone to produce health products.

Enterprises in the zone are those high-end food product producers. To better serve them, the zone has invested five billion yuan ($756 million) to improve its infrastructure since its foundation in 2012.

Zhang Xiwen, vice-director of the management committee of the zone, says that the zone's biggest advantage is that it is disease-free and has a safety guarantee system. Those safeguards add to the confidence felt by people in the zone about expanding the high-end domestic market.
