A China Characteristic Small Town is to segregate the diversified development of Zhuhai's West Wing with distinct sites for leisure tourism, a livable community, and advanced manufacturing, according to the Housing & Urban-Rural Planning & Construction Bureau.
The next three years of development in Central Doumen Town was outlined in the latest update of the overall planning revision made public on Nov 28.
A core development area of 26.14 sq km will become a key ecological central town in Guangdong and a unique cultural and recreational tourism town in the Pearl River Delta. It will also become a national historical and cultural town bearing the richest Lingnan style in Zhuhai.
The blueprint marks three functional parts, each having distinctive functions relying on the urban comprehensive service zone.

The northern Eco-Agricultural Tourism Section is to feature countryside sightseeing and recreational experiences based on the villages of Shangzhou and Dachikan. This is to serve Doumen's goal of becoming a cultural and tourist town with a visitor service center.
Huangyang Mt Scenic Site in the east will feature five weekend vacation products: Doumen Town historical and cultural, Jintai Temple religious cultural, Huangyang Mt natural landscaping, Yu Wen Quan Imperial Hot Springs Resort and neighboring amusement park-centered leisure and recreational, and West Huangyang Mt health preservation and elderly care holidaymaking areas.
Furthermore, the southwest Longshan Industrial Section will take advantage of the Fushan Industrial Zone to promote advanced manufacturing and improve competitiveness through industrial upgrades. Meanwhile, residential business and other support services will be enhanced to better service commercial and convention and exhibition events.
Goals were also set to polish the image of Doumen after it was designated as one of the second-batch China Characteristic Small Towns by the Ministry of Housing & Urban-Rural Development on July 27.
