Songs in Autumn art event staged in Wuxi

The first Songs in Autumn national community education performances exhibition was held in Jiangnan Vocational College of Media Arts of Wuxi, Jiangsu province on Nov 27-28.

Sponsored by the Chinese Adult Education Association, the event is a public welfare cultural activity that combines the spirit of the 19th CPC with mass art community education, aiming to showcase the achievements of community education.

Songs in Autumn performances exhibition was made up of various kinds of performances, including musicals, dramas, quyi (Chinese folk art forms) and choreographic works.

Most of the programs were performed by senior citizens, including qualified dance programs from colleges for senior citizens, special works reflecting community life and displaying national intangible cultural heritage with local characteristics.

The Legend of Taihu Lake, a large stage show about the historical and cultural stories of Wuxi, was also performed by students and teachers from Jiangnan Vocational College of Media Arts.

Songs in Autumn performances exhibition will now become a annual art festival. Various sorts of mass performances are welcomed in the future, including community singing, dancing, drama, recitation, sports dance, square dance and instrumental music performances.

The community painting and calligraphy exhibition is going to be displayed next year as well.
