Agriculture in 2016

In 2016, the total population of Sanmenxia city was 2.3 million, with a rural population of 1.7 million(441.8 thousand households) and farmland acreage of 2.7 million mu (177.3 hectares). By the end of 2016, agricultural products had reached 200. The added value of primary industries in the city reached 12.4 billion yuan ($1.9 billion), a year-on-year increase of 4.7 percent, ranking first in Henan province. The total output value of characteristic agriculture reached 18.5 billion yuan, accounting for 90 percent of the total agricultural output value. 

Fruits: the fruit production base in the city covers an area of 1.3 million mu (85,333 hectares), ranking first nationwide. In 2016, the amount of exported fruits reached 160 million kilograms with a foreign exchange earnings of $150 million. The area, yield and output value of fruits all ranked first in the province.

Animal husbandry: in 2016, the production output of meat, eggs and milk reached 113,000 tons, 55,000 tons and 45,000 tons respectively. 

Edible fungi: in 2016, the production scale of edible fungi reached more than 180 million bags. The total output was 240 million kg with an output value of 2.3 billion yuan. In 2016, the export volume of edible mushrooms was 14,000 tons, bringing in an export revenue of $200 million. 

Chinese medical herbs, vegetables and aquatic products: in 2016, the planted area of Chinese medical herbs was three billion mu and the area of wild herbs was three billion mu. The planted area of vegetables was four billion mu, with a production output of 1.3 billion kg. The output of Chinese medical herbs was 52.3 million kg. The output of aquatic products reached 20 million kg.

Grains: in 2016, the total output of grains reached 650 million kg, exceeding the goals set by the province by 150 million kg.
